NIST 800-171

Urgent compliance requirements for DoD suppliers.

Urgent NIST 800-171 Compliance Requirement

If your company seeks to continue doing business with the U.S. Department of Defense, you must address the updated NIST 800-171 assessment process now.

A recent update to DFARS 252.204-7012 requires companies that contract with the DoD to conduct a NIST 800-171 self-assessment and upload it to the DoD's Supplier Risk Performance System (SPRS) -- before new contracts are awarded or existing contracts are extended. While the regulatory deadline for this is November 30, 2020, the practical effective deadline could be as early as October 30, 2020.
