Reflections from the ISMG Healthcare Security Summit in NYC

The ISMG Healthcare Security Summit in New York City last week brought together some of the brightest minds in healthcare cybersecurity, and Celerium was proud to be part of the conversation. Our CISO and former White House CISO, Vince Crisler, joined an impressive lineup of speakers, panels, and thought leaders to tackle one of today’s most pressing challenges: safeguarding patient data in an evolving threat landscape.

Event Highlights

The day kicked off with a powerful session by Bindu Sundaresan (LevelBlue), who delivered actionable insights on cyber resilience and the growing role of AI in security. Her mix of practical advice and future-focused perspectives set the tone for a day of knowledge-sharing.

Next, Scott Gee (AHA) reminded everyone of the importance of not just creating data breach response plans but rigorously testing them. His experience underscored a universal truth in security: a plan is only as good as its execution under pressure.

Our own Vince Crisler then took the stage, sharing Celerium’s perspective on protecting healthcare organizations in an era of rising cyber threats. Immediately following, Chip Whit (Radware) delivered a fascinating (and often entertaining) deep dive into the latest tactics cybercriminals are using to target healthcare providers.

A standout discussion featured Donald Eckel (CISO, NJ) and Thurain Nyunt (CISO, NY), who walked attendees through the innovative cybersecurity initiatives underway in New Jersey and New York. The day wrapped with a hard-hitting panel on regulatory issues, featuring Peter Halprin (Haynes Boone), Sara Goldstein (BakerHostetler), and Jennifer Kreick (Haynes Boone), a session that underscored the complex compliance landscape healthcare leaders must navigate.

Conversations That Matter

Beyond the sessions, the energy at the Celerium booth was undeniable. Healthcare leaders stopped by to learn how our Data Breach Defender™ solution is helping organizations detect, contain, and stop breaches before they cause harm.

One recurring theme in our booth discussions: third-party risk. With supply chain breaches on the rise, executives like Steven Adler and healthcare practitioners such as Adam Flemming (Ryan Health) and Jonah Kozak (Pfizer) emphasized the need for practical, proactive defense. These candid conversations reinforced why Celerium launched our No-Cost PHI Data Breach Defense Program, a way to give all healthcare organizations, regardless of size, access to advanced breach defense.

A Big Thank You

A special thanks to the ISMG staff who made the event seamless and engaging. From the insightful interview between Tom Field and Vince Crisler, to the behind-the-scenes support from Jennifer Eisenhofer, Ryan Loder, and the rest of the ISMG team, the event was a true success.

Looking Ahead

We left New York energized by the conversations and collaboration. Cybersecurity is a shared responsibility, and forums like ISMG remind us how much stronger we are when we come together as an industry.

Next stop: the Becker’s Health IT + Digital Health + RCM Conference in Chicago (September 30 – October 3, 2025). We look forward to continuing the conversation, sharing our solutions, and, most importantly, helping healthcare organizations protect what matters most: their patients.
